RALEIGH, N.C. -- The Vancouver Canucks have traded goaltender Eddie Lack to the Carolina Hurricanes for two draft picks.

The Canucks acquired Carolina's third-round pick in this weekend's draft as well as a seventh-round pick in next year's draft.

In a statement, Carolina executive vice president and general manager Ron Francis called Lack "a big-bodied goalie who has proven himself on the NHL level in the past two seasons.

The 27-year-old Lack went 18-13-4 with a 2.45 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage last season, his second full NHL season with the Canucks. He took over the starting job in February due to Ryan Miller's knee injury, though Miller eventually reclaimed the job during the playoffs.
