F1: Rosberg to start on pole for U.S. Grand Prix

Nico Rosberg grabbed the pole for the United States Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas, after the third round of qualifying did not take place.

Race marshals deemed the track not fit to run Q3, after there was a delay at the conclusion of Q2 so it could be inspected.

Rosberg's Mercedes teammate, Lewis Hamilton, will start alongside him in second. Hamilton has the chance to clinch his third World Championship, barring where he, Vettel, and Rosberg finish in the race.

Infiniti Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo qualified third after posting the fastest time at the end of Q1.

Drivers fought heavy rain and slippery conditions, as many drivers had trouble on the exit of Turn 10, which is an off-camber turn that proved to be treacherous in the rainy weather.

Sebastion Vettel qualifed fifth, as Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen posted the eighth fastest time. But, because of a 10-place grid penalty, Vettel will start the race in 13th, while Raikkonen will start 18th.

American Alexander Rossi will start 17th in his first USGP.

Manor Marussia driver Will Stevens will start last because of a 20-place grid penalty.

There was also trouble in Q1, as Carlos Sainz lost control of his car and crashed into the barriers in the esses of the first sector.
